WCTI, the ABC affiliate in New Bern, North Carolina, had to stop broadcasting from its building due to flooding that left the studio and other parts of the building damaged.

  • Meteorologist Donnie Cox was part of a skeleton crew remaining in the station covering Hurricane Florence and the flooding.
  • However, it soon became necessary for everyone to leave the building when the studio started to flood.
  • Cox announced on air that they would be evacuating the building completely.
  • The station turned over operations to its sister station WPDE in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina to continue to provide viewers with coverage.
  • Before the signal was switched over to WPDE, the radar map remained on screen, though audio was mostly silent, except for a few muffled noises.
  • The station also mentioned that viewers could access the latest information on its social media accounts and website.
  • Both stations are owned by Sinclair Broadcasting.
