During its coverage of Donald Trump’s rally in Duluth Minnesota, Fox News cut to a shot of a black person in the crowd — a moved that sparked finger pointing on social media:

  • Max Tani, a media reporter for The Daily Beast, first noticed the shot and tweeted about it Wednesday, June 20, 2018.
  • Ryan Saavedra, a reporter for the The Daily Wire, called out Tani for tweeting inaccurate information, calling the tweet a “lie.”
  • Tani then deleted his original tweet, thinking he was wrong in his original tweet.
  • However, a C-SPAN feed of the rally, which showed the pool camera shot during the same moment in the speech, showed that the shot of the black man was, in fact, added by Fox.
  • Tani’s colleague Andrew Kirell, then tweeted “Imagine being a writer for a right-wing click farm and not knowing that networks can add cameras on top of the pool feed. To quote you, that’s “Embarrassing!” (Or par for the course, really.)”
